A&A Music teachers are talented musicians who have extensive amount of experience in teaching music. A&A Music teachers are focused on keeping music lessons fun, productive, and professional. Our student have a chance to learn music theory, reading notes, sight reading, in addition to learning to play an instrument. As a result, many of our students be came successful players who participate in many other music activities in school or in the community.
Our teacher's other goal is to share your talent with other once you know music well enough. Therefore, to encourage this we offer recitals for any one who wishes to perform in our facility. Our teachers also encourage A&A Music students to go out to the community to participate in public concerts, music competitions, and playing at the nursing home and other venues.
Andy Nguyen has an extensive professional music background, having studied since the age of seven he graduated with distinction from George Mason University majoring in piano performance and music composition. He also was an Oxford, England English culture study candidate. Andy received a full scholarship study piano performance a pedagogy in the Gnessin School of Music in Moscow Russia. Andy also studied music composition in the Russian Music Academy, Moscow Russia. He is the member of the Golden Key International Honor Society. Andy has performed and arranged for many noted concerts in the United States, Europe and Asia.
Yasas Rangajeewa Jayawardena began his musical studies at the age of four when he began piano lessons. Soon he joined choir, where he sang as a boy soprano. He studied piano with Dr. Patricia Brady, Professor Mary Gummow. Mr. Jayawardena studied Piano with Dr. Patricia Brady at the James Madison University with Dr. Patricia Brady where he exceeded her expectations. Shortly after he went to study voice to pursue his rare, yet exceptional vocal gift at the School of Music Theatre at Dance at the University of Michigan. He is graduated with a degree in Vocal Performance with honors. Mr. Jayawardena is also a k-12 certified music teacher.
He studied voice with Professor George Shirley (tenor), who has helped him develop his unique vocal gift. His unique vocal instrument is known for its power, opulence, and the wide range. Other voice teachers include Dr. Carrie Stevens, Dr. Helen Hui. He has worked with the directors Robert Swedberg, and Don Rierson. He has worked with the coaches Dr. Kathryn Goodson, Dr. Timothy Cheek, Mr. Justin Snyder, and Mr. Matthew Brower. Mr. Jayawardena studied Conducting with Dr. Rodney Dorsey and Dr. Scott Bersaglia. In February of 2010 he had the privilege of singing for the renowned Countertenor David Daniels at a master class given at the School of Music at the University of Michigan. He has sung the roles of Cherubino in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Soprano solo in Handel’s Messiah, La chauve- souris in Ravel’s L'enfant et les sortileges.
Upon graduation Mr. Jayawardena has been teaching group piano lessons, private piano lessons and private voice lessons at the A and A Music School of Music in Brambleton, VA. He also teaches summer camp and A and A Music. Mr. Jayawardena also works for the Loudoun County Public Schools.
Michael Tinkham is a graduate of George Mason University. He majored in Performance and Instrumental Music Education. He began playing guitar in 2003 in public schools from music instructors Vickie Weagly and Jon Signorelli. In college, Michael studied classical guitar under Larry Snitzler for four years from 2009-2013. Michael also studied jazz guitar with Rick Whitehead in 2013. While at George Mason University, Michael performed with the George Mason Guitar Ensemble. Michael also studied piano under Andy Nguyen from 2002 until August 2009. At college, he studied piano under Anna Balakerskaia for two years from 2010-2012.
Peter Theodore has been teaching guitar and music theory to kids and adults for over 25 years. Besides the extensive performing background, Peter's education includes Denver Metropolitan College and Berkeley School of Music. Parents need to know that he will have patience no matter what the learning level is. Peter is comfortable working with beginners to advanced students in all genres of music. He has developed a number system in conjunction with basic music theory to get students playing in no time, including those requiring special attention. Lessons in both acoustic and electric guitar.
Thomas is a graduate with Honors of Virginia Commonwealth University. He has a bachelor of Music with concentration in Performance/Wind and percussion Woodwind pedaggogy: Research the pedagogical techniques of the saxophone and other woodwind instruments; Developed a database of various works for saxophone and their pedagogical value. Methods Techniques: Woodwinds- Developed a basic understanding of the major woodwind instruments as well as how to fix common problems that may be having. A&A offers private and group lessons. Our School of Music's staff of professional musicians offers lessons for most instruments from beginner and intermediate to advanced students.
